And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Pappin.

Pappin shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Pappin passes the guard and advances to mount!
Pappin controlling the position easily from mount.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Maxwell Pappin just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Nice takedown defense from Van Damme. No joy for Pappin on that attempt.
Van Damme stuffs the takedown attempt from Pappin. Pappin gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Maxwell Pappin. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Pappin throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Van Damme's waist but Van Damme gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Pappin off to one side.

Van Damme shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Pappin's guard.

Pappin is wriggling around but Van Damme manages to pass to half guard.

Van Damme is looking for a kimura but Pappin is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Van Damme to get the leverage.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Van Damme seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Pappin is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
