Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Steve Ecko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Quinton Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jackson has chosen Let The Bodies Hit The Floor as his entrance music. Quinton Jackson is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Quinton Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Columbo Gatti and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jackson gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Jackson turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Jackson tries to advance to mount but Ecko denies him.

Jackson stands up and beckons Ecko to his feet.
Jackson walks into a left hand.
Jackson slips under a jab.
A nice leg kick lands there from Jackson.
Ecko lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Jackson fails with an attempt to clinch.
Jackson closes the distance and clinches up with Ecko, looking for a takedown. Jackson pushes Ecko against the cage but Ecko circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Jackson wants to clinch.
Steve Ecko seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ecko misses with a two punch combination.
Some wild striking there from Ecko.
Ecko is breathing heavily.
Jackson shoots in and drives through. Ecko sprawls well.

Jackson decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Jackson might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Ecko kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Jackson wants to control the pace but Ecko is squirming around nicely.
Ecko knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jackson on the ground.
Jackson is landing with some decent strikes but Ecko is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Jackson is working for a guillotine from mount but Ecko frees his head quite easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jackson lands a big elbow.
BOOM! Jackson connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Jackson looking to secure an arm triangle but Ecko defends it well.

Jackson gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

Ecko tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Ecko shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Jackson napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Jackson is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Ecko lands an elbow.
Jackson wants to control but Ecko postures up.
The strikes coming from Ecko are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Ecko scoring with punches and elbows.
Ecko misses with the ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Quinton Jackson dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Jackson doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Ecko counters with a left and a right that stings Jackson.
Ecko walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.


It looks like Steve Ecko has been cut.
Jackson with a lazy takedown attempt

and Ecko counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Jackson tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

Ecko is working for a submission of some sort.
Jackson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Jackson regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Ecko.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Jackson is on top in guard.
Jackson wants to get up but he can't break Ecko's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Ecko is working an open guard so Jackson takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Jackson dodges the punch combination from Ecko.
Jackson lands a nice leg kick that just misses Ecko's sensitive parts.
Ecko looks to land a right hand but Jackson moved out of range.
Ecko takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Jackson drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Ecko is not content to let Jackson control the position.

Jackson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ecko keeps working.

Jackson decides to stand back up. Jackson steps back and let's Ecko get back to his feet.

Ecko tries to keep at a distance but Jackson has taken the fight into the clinch.

Jackson ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Jackson no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Jackson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Ecko's guard.

Jackson is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Ecko has his takedown stuffed

and Jackson counters with a nice double leg into side control. Ecko won't be happy with that.
Jackson tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Jackson throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Ecko works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.

Ecko wants to sweep but Jackson has passed to side control!

and Jackson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Ecko on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Ecko tries to get out of the position.
Ecko looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jackson is one step ahead there.

Jackson passes Ecko's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Jackson prevents Ecko from standing back up.
Jackson wants to pass to mount but Ecko is defending the position.
Ecko trying to control but Jackson postures up.
Jackson throwing shots but Ecko is blocking nicely.
Jackson takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Ecko won't allow Jackson to pass to mount.
Steve Ecko has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Quinton Jackson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Ecko wants to get back to full guard but Jackson has mounted him!

Quinton Jackson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Jackson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
