PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kotaro Hakku (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Quid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hakku comes into the arena with Apocalyptica - Hope blaring out of the sound system. Quid has chosen The Beatles - Come Together as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kotaro Hakku!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Johnny Quid!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Shigeki Sano and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Quid throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hakku's waist but Hakku gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Quid off to one side.

Quid shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Kotaro Hakku has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Johnny Quid.

Quid closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Quid lands in his opponent's guard.
Hakku is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Johnny Quid seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Quid shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Quid tries to score a power double leg takedown but Hakku sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Quid somewhat.

Quid feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Quid is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Hakku doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Quid.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Hakku throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Quid sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Quid tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hakku swivels and escapes.
Quid shoots for a double leg takedown but Hakku sprawls well. He's pushed Quid's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Hakku misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Quid closes the distance and clinches up with Hakku, looking for a takedown. Quid pushes Hakku against the ropes but Hakku circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hakku, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
