Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Christian Holtz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Storm Shadow!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Stewart Dunkirk and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Shadow.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Holtz is defended easily by Shadow.
Holtz fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Shadow tries a head kick but it misses.
Holtz slips a jab and a cross from Shadow.
Shadow tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Holtz looks to score with a jab to the body but Shadow is just out of range.

Holtz takes the fight into the clinch.
Holtz pushes Shadow back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.

Holtz jumps into guard, dragging Shadow to the mat.
Shadow stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Holtz swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Shadow won't allow Holtz to sweep him here.

Holtz is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Holtz really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Shadow is defending against the submission attempts here by Holtz.
Holtz is breathing heavily.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Shadow tries to roll over but Holtz keeps him under control.
Ground and pound from Holtz.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Holtz content to control rather than advance.

Holtz postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Shadow to stand up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Holtz's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Shadow throws a head kick but Holtz moves out of range.
Shadow throws a sloppy head kick and Holtz moves out of range easily.
Shadow misses with a combination
and Holtz makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Shadow slips a straight right by Holtz.
Shadow doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Holtz counters with a right hand to the body.
Shadow takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Holtz throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Shadow connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Holtz lands with a straight right. Shadow didn't see that one coming.

and Holtz counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Holtz.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Holtz's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Shadow is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Shadow wants to free his trapped foot but Holtz is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Shadow seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Holtz does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Holtz is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
Holtz is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Holtz postures up in Shadow's guard and throws a big left but Shadow blocks it.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Christian Holtz just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

That's time! Holtz's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Holtz cracks Shadow with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Shadow is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Holtz.

Storm Shadow seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Holtz will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Shadow pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Holtz ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Holtz shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Shadow is trying to defend but Holtz finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Holtz is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Holtz seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Shadow for as long as he can get away with.

Holtz wants to stand up but Shadow has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Holtz wants to control but Shadow is keeping him busy.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Shadow tries a head kick but it misses.

Holtz closes the distance and clinches up with Shadow, looking for a takedown. Holtz pushes Shadow against the cage but Shadow circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Shadow throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Holtz.
Christian Holtz is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Holtz is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

Storm Shadow has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Holtz uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Well Holtz has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
