PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nelson Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brock Parson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Silva's entrance music is Mika - Big Girl (You are Beautiful). A fine choice. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brock Parson!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Gwen Towbar and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva tries to clinch up.
Silva is looking to clinch but Parson is avoiding it.
Silva shoots in for a takedown but Parson shows good takedown defense.
Silva tries for a takedown but Parson sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Parson closes this distance looking for a takedown but Silva circles away.

and Parson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nelson Silva. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Parson is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Parson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Silva. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Parson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Silva swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Nelson Silva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Silva tries to clinch but Parson moves away

and Parson decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Silva's guard.

Parson pushes down on Silva's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Silva is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Silva is working hard here to advance position.

Parson lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Silva looks like he's trying to stand up.

Parson is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Parson takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Parson uses his free foot to push down on Silva's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Silva.
Silva is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Parson lands a nice shot to the head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Parson lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Silva hang on?

Brock Parson dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Parson shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Silva counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Silva is fighting to break Parson's control of his arms but Parson is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Silva drops back looking for a leg! Parson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Parson manages to kick Silva off! Silva jumps back into Parson's guard.
Parson wants to sweep but no luck.
Parson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Silva's guard.
Parson seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Silva is looking for a triangle but Parson pushes his legs off easily.

Silva bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Parson's guard.

Parson working a defensive guard but Silva manages to pass into side control anyway.
Silva throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Parson works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Parson is looking to improve his position.

Silva wants to work for an arm triangle but Parson is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Parson tries to get to full guard but Silva has control of the leg.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Silva can do anything to dispel that myth.

Parson is staying active underneath Silva, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Silva perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Silva is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Parson regains full guard. Nicely done.
Silva stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Parson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Parson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Silva is one step ahead there.
Parson is pulling down on Silva's head. It's preventing any offense from Silva, at least for the moment.
Silva is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Silva trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Silva stands up and waves to Parson to follow him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nelson Silva dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Silva fails with the takedown

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Well, if Parson is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Silva wants to get back to full guard but Parson has mounted him!

Silva wants to hold on but Parson pushes him away.

Let's hope that Parson has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Silva keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
BOOM! Parson connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Silva is looking to get to half guard.
Parson wants to control the pace but Silva is squirming around nicely.

Parson avoids the attempt from Silva to control.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Parson can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Silva is looking to escape.
Silva tries to reverse the position but Parson maintains control.
Silva tries to lock up and control but Parson gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Silva could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that's the end of the fight!
Brock Parson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Parson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
