Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rodg Padacteri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Pope (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rodg Padacteri!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Pope!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Franklyn Lucas and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pope shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Padacteri sprawls well. Padacteri wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Pope gets slowly back to his feet.
Horrible takedown by Pope or perhaps it was just good defense by Padacteri which made him look bad.
Padacteri walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Pope checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

Padacteri clinches up with Pope and pushes him back against the cage.
Padacteri is trying to break the clinch but Pope has him pressed against the cage.
Padacteri lands a nice elbow.


It looks like John Pope has been cut.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Padacteri.

Pope decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Padacteri misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Padacteri throws a series of punches but Pope avoids them all with ease.

Pope closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Padacteri to the mat! Padacteri manages to get full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Pope cracks Padacteri with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Padacteri takes a swing at Pope's ribcage but misses.

so Pope counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Pope stands up and waves to Padacteri to follow him.
Padacteri tries to clinch but Pope moves out of range.
Padacteri throws a left and a right that both miss

and Pope moves into the clinch.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Padacteri prevents a body shot from Pope.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
Pope letting Padacteri take a breather here.
Padacteri gets underhooks to prevent Pope's takedown attempt.

Padacteri drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Pope manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Padacteri has Pope in his guard.

Padacteri is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Pope is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Padacteri wants to sweep but no luck.

Padacteri with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Pope to score with a decent uppercut.
Rodg Padacteri seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Padacteri holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Pope feints and as Padacteri raises his hands in defense, Pope changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

John Pope is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

John Pope comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Pope has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
