PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between David Durrant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Spackman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Spackman has chosen Never Scared by Busta Rhymes as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both these fighters are unbeaten, so somebody's 0 has got to go!David Durrant is staring across the ring at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, David Durrant!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dan Spackman!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Shirou Masuda and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Durrant slips a jab and a cross from Spackman.
Decent striking displayed by Spackman there.
Durrant changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Spackman tries to avoid it but Durrant manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Spackman to the ground. Spackman escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Durrant shoots in looking for a takedown. Spackman tries to sprawl out of it but Durrant keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Spackman manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Spackman stuffs the takedown attempt from Durrant. Durrant gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for David Durrant. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Durrant gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Spackman wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Durrant successfully pulls guard.
Durrant wants to sweep here but Spackman controlling him for the moment.
Spackman wants to stand but Durrant has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Durrant bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Spackman's guard.
Durrant trying to control but Spackman is working from the bottom.
Spackman really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Durrant. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Durrant is really struggling to control Spackman but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Durrant trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Durrant is working hard here to advance position.
Spackman keeping moving, preventing Durrant from controlling successfully.
Durrant is breathing heavily.
Durrant wants to pass the guard but Spackman is keeping the position.
Spackman wants to stand but Durrant is controlling the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Spackman stuffs the takedown.
Spackman connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Spackman scores with a one two! Durrant had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.


It looks like David Durrant has been cut.
Spackman lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Spackman throws a right and a left that Durrant avoids nicely.

Durrant scores a takedown into full mount!
Spackman tries to buck Durrant off but he can't manage it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Durrant is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Spackman is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Spackman flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Durrant anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Spackman and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Durrant slips an arm under Spackman chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Durrant has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Durrant is squeezing on Spackman like an anaconda would it's prey. Spackman fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:21 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). David Durrant!
David Durrant retains his welterweight title!
