PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between John Seaver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bill Beach (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Seaver comes to the cage accompanied by Overkill - The Goal Is Your Soal. Beach is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Sky Is The Limit-Weezy. John Seaver has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John Seaver!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bill Beach!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Matheus Silva and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Seaver misses with a two punch combination.
Seaver ducks right into an uppercut from Beach.
Beach looks to score with a jab to the body but Seaver is just out of range.

Beach scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Seaver looking for submissions off his back.
Ground and pound from Beach.
Beach wants to stand up but Seaver is controlling the position.
Seaver is looking to control Beach's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Seaver avoid being mounted?
Seaver has his hands clasped together around Beach's back. He's all about the action.

Beach decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Beach has closed the distance and engaged Seaver in a clinch.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Seaver thows a body shot but no joy.
Seaver throws a nice looking combination but Beach bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
A lazy left from Beach finds it's target.
Nice takedown defense from Beach. No joy for Seaver on that attempt.
Beach swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Seaver is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Seaver takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Seaver seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Beach does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Beach is trying to stand.
Seaver works his way into side control.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Beach avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Seaver.
Beach takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Beach on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Seaver looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Beach is avoiding damage well.
Seaver passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Beach!
Seaver has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Seaver with shots to the head and body - Beach looks very uncomfortable down there.
Seaver throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Beach is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

Seaver unloads with some shots from mount but Beach bucks and avoids them well.
Beach is squirming around, avoiding Seaver's attempts to control the action.
Seaver controlling the pace for now.

Seaver has hold of Beach's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Beach manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Seaver tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that John Seaver will probably get the nod.

Seaver goes for an armbar but Beach turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Beach.
Beach really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Seaver. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Seaver has Beach pulled in close to control his posture.

Beach got a little sloppy there for a moment and Seaver has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Beach has managed to get both his arms back between Seaver's legs - danger averted.

Beach looking to sit in guard and control but Seaver gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
John Seaver overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Seaver stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Beach swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Seaver wants to control from the top but Beach keeps moving.
Seaver throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Beach works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Seaver works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Seaver is looking for a kimura here.

Beach pushes Seaver off looking to stand but Seaver dives back in and keeps control.
Seaver is nestled in close to Beach, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Beach is staying active underneath Seaver, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Seaver throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Beach misses with a combination
and Seaver counters with a two punch combo.
Beach lands a glancing blow to the side of Seaver's head.

Beach throws a right and a left that Seaver avoids nicely.
Beach throws a right hand that Seaver ducks under and follows up with a left that Seaver also avoids with ease.
Seaver fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Seaver feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Seaver stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Beach swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Seaver scores with a crisp jab that stopped Beach in his tracks.
Beach slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Seaver throws a shot from downtown. Beach moves away and avoids it.
Seaver's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Seaver duly obliges.

Beach pushes Seaver off looking to stand but Seaver dives back in and keeps control.

Seaver is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Beach is just riding it out for now. Seaver eventually gives up the hold.

John Seaver showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Seaver, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
