PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dominic Estes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marco Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Estes comes to the cage accompanied by Shout by Disturbed. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dominic Estes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marco Silva!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, John Kavanagh and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Estes.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Silva tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Sloppy strikes there by Estes.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Estes tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Estes wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Silva, who protects the arm well.
Estes tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Estes working away.

Estes tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Estes has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Silva doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Estes counters by clinching up.
Silva tries to break the clinch but Estes is controlling the position.

Silva working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
Estes is breathing heavily.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Silva looks to throw an elbow but misses.
Estes gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Silva.

Silva avoids the body shot from Estes.
Silva shoots for a double leg takedown but Estes sprawls well. He's pushed Silva's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Dominic Estes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marco Silva.

Estes darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Estes not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Estes seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Silva does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Estes has gone for a leg lock! Silva slips out almost immediately though and dives into Estes's guard.
Silva is looking to work some ground and pound but Estes has wrist control.
Silva looking to sit in guard and control but Estes gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Estes connects with a couple of short punches.
Estes has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Estes swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
A punch combination from Estes misses.
Silva is looking to clinch but Estes is avoiding it.
Silva tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

A right-left combo lands from Estes.

Estes shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Estes showed some decent athleticism there.
Silva is trying to control but can't.
Estes tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The fighters are battling for position here. Silva manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Silva is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Estes is looking to advance position but Silva has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Estes avoids a series of strikes thrown by Silva.
Estes is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Silva prevents Estes from getting the reversal.

Silva has control of Estes's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Estes regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Silva throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Silva goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Estes is on top in guard.

Estes stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Silva swivels though and keeps the full guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Silva wants to stand but Estes is controlling his posture from full guard.
Estes utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Estes on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Estes tries to get out of the position.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Silva accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Silva should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Estes winds up and cracks Silva with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Well Estes has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
