Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ready Go (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrew Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Ready Go!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Andrew Alves!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Paul Tew and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alves tries to clinch there but Go circles away.
Alves tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Go paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Andrew Alves seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Go drives through with a takedown into guard.
Go throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Alves has his foot on Go's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Go works his way back into a safe position though.
Go throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Alves works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Go is looking to advance position but Alves has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Go squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Alves looking to control but Go is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Alves thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Alves throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Alves wants to control the pace but Go is squirming around nicely.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Alves is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Despite being in the dominant position, Andrew Alves just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and Go counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Alves tries to hold on but Go postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

and Go counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Go throwing strikes but missing.

Alves is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Go is aware though and is defending well.

Go wants to control from the top but Alves keeps moving.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Go's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Alves not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Alves wants to sweep but no luck.
Go scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Go missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Go stands and throws Alves's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Go tries to move to mount but Alves blocks the move with his legs.
Go throws a strike aimed at the side of Alves's head but Alves avoids it well.

Alves sneaks out the side door and pushes Go away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Go darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Alves is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Go's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Go's back!
Alves is controlling the position but Go somehow manages to roll and ends up with half guard.

Alves stops Go from getting back to his feet.
Alves wants to free his trapped foot but Go is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Alves decides to return to a standing position.
Alves shoots and misses

and Go counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Go prevents Alves from getting back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Go postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Go postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Alves looking to control.
Go connects with a couple of short punches.
Alves wants to stand up but Go is controlling him.
Go is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Go looking to pass the guard.
Go landing some decent shots from guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Go throwing strikes but missing.
Go wants to control from the top but Alves keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ready Go dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Alves closes the distance looking to clinch

and Go counters with a single leg into guard. Alves didn't expect that.
Go wants to pass the guard but Alves is keeping the position.
Alves is trying to keep Go in close.
Go sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Alves's guard.
Alves controlling the position for now.
Go is thwarting Alves's attempts to control the position.

Alves takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Go looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Alves with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Alves flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Alves blocking the ground and pound attempt from Go.
Alves works his way to full guard. Good work.
Go trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Go looking to sit in guard and control but Alves gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Alves wants to control from the top but Go keeps moving.
Alves would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Go keeping moving, preventing Alves from controlling successfully.

Alves stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Alves looks to clinch

and Go counters with a single leg into guard. Alves didn't expect that.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Go accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Go stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Alves swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Go has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Alves is looking for a triangle but Go pushes his legs off easily.
Ready Go overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Ready Go is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Go wants to control from the top but Alves keeps moving.

Alves is trying to keep Go in close.
Andrew Alves has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Alves doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Ready Go showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Go has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
