Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mauricio Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bebo BerriosCintron (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rua comes into the arena with Pitbull blaring out of the sound system. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Paulo Santos and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rua drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
BerriosCintron looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Rua trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Rua advances position into side control!
Rua stands up and beckons BerriosCintron to his feet.
Rua instigates a clinch.
BerriosCintron is working for a takedown up against the ropes. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Rua manages to break the clinch.
BerriosCintron gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Rua keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of BerriosCintron's head.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

BerriosCintron is still in real trouble! Can Rua finish him?
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!

Rua has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of BerriosCintron is proving hard to escape from.
BerriosCintron seems to have recovered his senses.

and Rua counters with a low kick, right behind BerriosCintron 's knee.
Rua fails with a takedown attempt.

Rua blocks an elbow strike from BerriosCintron.
BerriosCintron is looking to break free of the clinch but Rua has double underhooks.
BerriosCintron is trying to break free.
BerriosCintron tries to break the clinch but Rua is controlling the position.
Rua just leaning against BerriosCintron, taking a breather.
A nice left hand lands by Rua.
BerriosCintron breaks from the clinch.
Rua has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
It looks like Mauricio Rua has been cut.
Rua has BerriosCintron up against the ropes in a clinch.
BerriosCintron misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Rua.
BerriosCintron pushes off an throws an elbow but Rua leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the ropes.

Rua has hold of one of BerriosCintron's legs. BerriosCintron is fighting the takedown attempt but Rua gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now BerriosCintron is on top in guard.
BerriosCintron throws a strike but Rua rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Rua postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Rua stands and throws BerriosCintron's legs to the side, diving into side control.
BerriosCintron wants to get back to his feet but Rua drags him back down.

Bebo BerriosCintron seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rua rushes BerriosCintron and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch.
BerriosCintron wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Rua has him pressed against the ropes.
Rua connects with a nasty looking knee right to BerriosCintron's face.
Rua scores with a knee to the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
BerriosCintron breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Rua decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Still in half guard, Rua seems content to control.
Rua is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Rua is looking to stall here but BerriosCintron recovers full guard.
Rua gets to his feet - BerriosCintron follows without any prompting.
Horrible takedown by Rua or perhaps it was just good defense by BerriosCintron which made him look bad.
BerriosCintron wants to clinch but Rua slips to the side
and Rua counters with a shoot takedown. BerriosCintron fights it but they end up in guard.
Rua prevents BerriosCintron from getting back to his feet.
Rua decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on BerriosCintron, up you get!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
BerriosCintron tries to grapple but his opponent circles
enabling Rua to counter with a crisp jab.
Rua drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Rua tries for a kimura but BerriosCintron is defending well.
Rua in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... BerriosCintron is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:04 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Mauricio Rua!
