PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Alez Calypse (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marshall Mathers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Calypse comes to the cage accompanied by Prodigy - Spitfire. Mathers has chosen Superman as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Alez Calypse!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Marshall Mathers!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Saam Ante and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Calypse shoots in but Mathers avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Calypse is looking to clinch.

Mathers drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Mathers working some strikes from top position.
Calypse is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Mathers postures up and lands a big shot to Calypse's brow.
Mathers stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Calypse swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Mathers with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Calypse is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Mathers is aware though and is defending well.
Calypse has momentary wrist control but Mathers slips an elbow through the middle.
Calypse wants to sweep but no luck.
Calypse working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Mathers.

Calypse has his foot on Mathers's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Mathers works his way back into a safe position though.

Mathers postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Mathers landing some decent shots from guard.

Calypse tries to land a sweep but no joy.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Calypse is looking to clinch but Mathers is avoiding it.
Mathers moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Calypse dodges the punch combination from Mathers.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Mathers.
Calypse is looking to regain half guard here but Mathers keeps moving and retains side control.

Calypse is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Mathers off and has taken his back!
Mathers rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Calypse wants to get back to his feet.

Calypse wants to control from the top but Mathers keeps moving.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Calypse trying to control but Mathers is working from the bottom.

Mathers pushes a forearm under Calypse's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Calypse is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
