PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chris Fegar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kaleb Strader (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chris Fegar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kaleb Strader!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, George Francis and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Strader throws a right and a left that Fegar avoids nicely.
Fegar throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Strader throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Fegar.

Fegar closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Strader is letting Fegar control him for a moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Strader tries to improve position but can't.

Fegar tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Strader regains half guard.
Fegar blocks the strikes from Strader.

Fegar is working for a kimura but Strader is defending it quite comfortably.
Fegar tries to pass the half guard into mount. Strader knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Strader is refusing to be controlled, as Fegar sits in half guard.
Strader moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Strader looking for a sweep. Not yet Strader, not yet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Strader fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Fegar, pushing him back against the cage.
Fegar prevents the takedown attempt.
Fegar tries for a takedown. No joy.

Strader breaks the clinch.
Strader scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!


It looks like Chris Fegar has been cut.
Fegar is breathing heavily.
Strader misses with a wild body shot.

Strader drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Strader thows a big elbow that misses.
Fegar has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Fegar is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Strader lands a nice short elbow.
Fegar moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Fegar working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Strader doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Strader manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Strader must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Fegar wants to sweep here but Strader controlling him for the moment.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fegar is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Fegar is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Fegar is trying to control the action in half guard but Strader is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Fegar is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Strader is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Chris Fegar just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Fegar decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Fegar has control of Strader's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Strader regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Fegar tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Strader is squirming around, avoiding Fegar's attempts to control the action.

Strader has given up his back. Will we see Fegar going for some submissions?

Strader is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Fegar gets his way!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Fegar wants to control but Strader is keeping busy.

Strader is nestled in close to Fegar, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Strader bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Fegar manages to work his way to half guard, despite Strader's best efforts.

Strader working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!

Strader postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Fegar in real trouble here! The ref calls for Fegar to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!
