PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Denny Prokopos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Clicket Ticket (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Prokopos comes to the cage accompanied by Deep River Blues - Doc Watson. Ticket has chosen Pantera Walk as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Denny Prokopos!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Clicket Ticket!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Paulo Santos and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ticket closes the distance and clinches up with Prokopos, looking for a takedown. Ticket pushes Prokopos against the cage but Prokopos circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Prokopos drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Prokopos pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Ticket is keeping the position for now.
Ticket looking to hit a scissor sweep but Prokopos is one step ahead there.
Ticket is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Prokopos trying to control but Ticket is working from the bottom.

Ticket is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Prokopos knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Prokopos for a finish.

Prokopos really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Prokopos tries to move into full mount but can't pass Ticket's legs.

Prokopos is trying to get an arm triangle but Ticket is defending well.
Ticket is looking to reverse the position.
Ticket gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

and Prokopos counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Ticket!
Prokopos can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Ticket is looking to escape.

Ticket stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Prokopos swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Prokopos closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Prokopos lands in his opponent's guard.
Ticket is breathing heavily.

Ticket escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Prokopos gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Prokopos wants to control from the top but Ticket keeps moving.

Ticket working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Prokopos doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Prokopos manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Prokopos stands and throws Ticket's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Denny Prokopos overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Prokopos creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Ticket sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Ticket tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Prokopos wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Ticket is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Prokopos's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Prokopos is looking for a kimura here.
Ticket is not content to let Prokopos control the position.
Prokopos looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Ticket is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Prokopos's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Prokopos's back!
Ticket is trying to stick to Prokopos's back but Prokopos is turning into Ticket. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Ticket's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Prokopos.

Prokopos is in trouble now - Ticket has advanced to mount!

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Prokopos shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Ticket's guard.
Prokopos won't allow Ticket to sweep him here.

Ticket has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Prokopos is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Ticket.

Prokopos is putting a hurting on Ticket here, landing some big shots from side control.
