The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
ricardo will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Fontana drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Fontana wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by ricardo, who protects the arm well.
Fontana is staying tight to ricardo's torso, preventing him from escaping.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
ricardo tries to close the distance and clinch up but Fontana swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Fontana bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
ricardo is working to avoid the ground and pound but Fontana connects with a decent elbow.
Fontana is chipping away with strikes.

ricardo avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Fontana.

Fontana decides to stand back up.
ricardo missing with a left hand there. Fontana was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

and Fontana counters by clinching up.

ricardo content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Fontana has locked up a guillotine! Fontana's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? ricardo is holding on here and Fontana must be using up a lot of energy. ricardo has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Fontana gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
