Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Bowhime!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Joseph Jones and Anthony Taglia.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Starks tries a head kick but it misses.
Bowhime avoids a kick to the body.
Starks avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Starks goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Bowhime is looking to clinch but Starks is avoiding it.

Starks looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Starks lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Bowhime is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Starks throws a strike but Bowhime rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Starks postures up in Bowhime's guard and throws a big left but Bowhime blocks it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Starks throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Starks stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bowhime swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Starks fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Bowhime sprawls well initially but Starks persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Starks slips a nice elbow through Bowhime's hands, connecting with Bowhime's forehead.

Starks has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Bowhime's face.

Starks throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

It looks like John Bowhime has been cut.
Starks postures up in Bowhime's guard and throws a big left but Bowhime blocks it.
Bowhime is still in real trouble! Can Starks finish him?
Starks works over Bowhime with some ground and pound from guard.
Bowhime seems to have recovered his senses.
Bowhime avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Starks is looking to advance position but Bowhime has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Starks has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Bowhime got a little sloppy there for a moment and Starks has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Bowhime has managed to get both his arms back between Starks's legs - danger averted.
