PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Harvey Chico (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Osmond Schwartz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Schwartz is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Hell March. Harvey Chico could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Osmond Schwartz's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Harvey Chico!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Osmond Schwartz!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Roosa Järviläinen and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schwartz shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Chico but Chico pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Schwartz has managed to clinch.
Chico is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Chico swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Schwartz struggles to land a body shot inside as Chico controls his hands.
Chico has had enough of the clinch but Schwartz keeps him there for the moment.
Schwartz should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Chico stalling in the clinch but Schwartz improves position.
Chico working hard to break the clinch.
Nice body punch from Chico - that landed with a thud.

Schwartz is trying to trip Chico. He has hold of a leg but Chico is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Schwartz persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Schwartz trying to stand up but can't free himself from Chico's guard.

Schwartz avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Schwartz looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Schwartz stands and throws Chico's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Chico is trying to control Schwartz's posture but Schwartz avoids it.

Schwartz decides to stand back up. Schwartz steps back and let's Chico get back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Chico clinches but Schwartz breaks the clinch

and Schwartz counters with a shoot takedown. Chico fights it but they end up in guard.
Chico being controlled here, momentarily.
Schwartz tries to free his leg and advance position but Chico is retaining full guard.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Schwartz has eaten all the pies!
Schwartz being controlled here momentarily.
Chico thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Schwartz accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Schwartz sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Schwartz stands up over Chico, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Schwartz looking to pass the guard.
Chico knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Schwartz on the ground.

Schwartz gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Schwartz shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Schwartz controlling his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Chico tries to hold on but Schwartz pushes him away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Osmond Schwartz dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Chico moves into range and connects with a jab.
Chico tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Schwartz counters with a shoot takedown. Chico fights it but they end up in guard.
Schwartz is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Schwartz stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Chico swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Schwartz is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Schwartz postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Chico can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Schwartz controls the pace.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Chico will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Schwartz wants to control from the top but Chico keeps moving.
Schwartz passes Chico's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Schwartz is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Schwartz avoids the attempt from Chico to control.
Schwartz lands a nice shot to the head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Schwartz is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Chico tries to lock up and control but Schwartz gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Schwartz looking to control and managing it successfully.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Schwartz is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Chico has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Chico working to try and regain half guard.
Schwartz looking to control but Chico is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Schwartz wants to finish this one by submission but Chico is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Schwartz.
Chico working to try and regain half guard.
Chico tries to hold on but Schwartz postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Osmond Schwartz showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Schwartz misses with an uppercut. Chico saw that one coming.
Chico looks to clinch

and Schwartz counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Chico wants to get back to his feet.
Chico moves into full guard.
Schwartz stands and throws Chico's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Schwartz is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Schwartz creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Chico is looking for a sweep.
Chico is not content to let Schwartz control the position.
Schwartz remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Schwartz thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Schwartz stands up and beckons Chico to his feet.
Chico tries to clinch

and Schwartz counters with a takedown into side control.
Schwartz is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Chico's shoulder. That is not cool.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Schwartz tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Schwartz wants to control but Chico is keeping him busy.
Schwartz is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Chico tries to buck Schwartz off but Schwartz is having none of it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Schwartz is looking to take a break and control but Chico is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Harvey Chico has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Osmond Schwartz is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Osmond Schwartz comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Schwartz winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
