The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some wild striking there from Powers.
Powers throws a hook to the side of Erickson's head but Erickson sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Powers throws an overhand right that lands on Erickson's shoulder, as Erickson tries to avoid the shot.
Nice sprawl there from Powers as Erickson shoots in.
Erickson missing with a left hand there. Powers was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Powers throws a series of punches but Erickson avoids them all with ease.
Powers lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

It looks like Michael Erickson has been cut.

Erickson closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Erickson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Powers keeps working.
Powers makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Powers.
Powers wants to stand but Erickson is controlling the position.

Erickson stands up from Powers's guard - Erickson perhaps looking for a knockout.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Erickson.

A punch lands to the side of Erickson 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Powers moves into range and connects with a jab.

Powers looks to land a combination but Erickson avoids it well.
Erickson is still on wobbly legs! Can Powers finish him?
Powers misses with an uppercut

and Erickson counters with a nice double leg into side control. Powers won't be happy with that.
Powers on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Powers tries to get out of the position.
Powers tries to buck Erickson off but Erickson is having none of it.
Powers knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Erickson on the ground.

Powers throws Erickson to one side and escapes!
Erickson seems to have recovered his senses.
Erickson gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Erickson takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Erickson takes one to the chin there.
Powers takes a swing at Erickson's ribcage but misses.

Powers gets caught flat footed, as Erickson shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Erickson slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Powers is not content to let Erickson control the position.
Erickson has knee on belly and moves into mount.

Erickson takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Powers is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.

Erickson stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Erickson takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Powers cracks Erickson with a big right hand that sees him stumbling back against the cage! Erickson falls to his knees and Powers doesn't need a second invitatation - he rushes in and fires off several unanswered shots that force the referee to stop the fight! This one is all over!
