The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stylo shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Hastings as he jumps to the side.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Hastings tries a low kick but Stylo avoids it.
Stylo will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Nice sprawl there from Hastings as Stylo shoots in.
Hastings avoids a punch combination nicely.
Hastings could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Hastings throws a nice outside leg kick.
Stylo lands with a nice combination. Hastings backs away looking to recover.

It looks like Brett Hastings has been cut.

Stylo decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Hastings tries to roll over but Stylo keeps him under control.
Hastings wants to control but Stylo is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hastings bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Stylo's guard.
Hastings looking to sit in guard and control but Stylo gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

JD Stylo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hastings lands a nice leg kick that just misses Stylo's sensitive parts.
Stylo doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Hastings uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

Hastings fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Stylo, pushing him back against the cage.

Stylo throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hastings's waist but Stylo gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Stylo off to one side.
Brett Hastings has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of JD Stylo.
