PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rory Keenan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Keast Kannegaard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Keenan might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Warriors Code. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Keenan shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kannegaard as he jumps to the side.
Kannegaard tries to clinch but Keenan moves out of range.
Kannegaard throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Kannegaard wants to clinch up but Keenan keeps it at a distance.
Kannegaard fails in his attempt to clinch.
Keenan throws a front kick that sends Kannegaard stumbling back into the cage.
Kannegaard avoids the body shot from Keenan.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kannegaard takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Keenan decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Keenan throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Kannegaard because Keenan loaded up on that one.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Keenan jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Kannegaard is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Kannegaard and Keenan has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Keenan tries for a kimura but Kannegaard is defending well.

Keenan is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Kannegaard is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Kannegaard parries the strikes from Keenan easily there. Keenan is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Kannegaard to escape.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Keenan has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kannegaard can do anything to dispel that myth.

Keenan is looking for a kimura but Kannegaard is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Keenan to get the leverage.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Keenan changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kannegaard tries to avoid it but Keenan manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kannegaard to the ground. Kannegaard escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Keast Kannegaard showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Rory Keenan.
I think Keenan has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
