Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Julian Ryan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Laiska Leppone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Leppone comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Still Häslin kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Laiska Leppone has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Julian Ryan's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Laiska Leppone!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Paulsen Ambrosius and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Leppone keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Laiska Leppone seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Leppone gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Ryan counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Ryan trying to control the position from guard on top but Leppone is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Leppone wants to get back to his feet but Ryan is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Ryan looking to sit in guard and control but Leppone gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Ryan had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Leppone defends it easily.
Leppone sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Leppone must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Leppone works over Ryan with some ground and pound from guard.

Leppone avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Ryan could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Leppone throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Leppone postures up in Ryan's guard and throws a big left but Ryan blocks it.
Leppone wants to control from the top but Ryan keeps moving.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Leppone is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Leppone accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Leppone gets to his feet. Ryan looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

and Ryan counters with a single leg into guard. Leppone didn't expect that.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ryan controls from within his opponent's guard.
Ryan is breathing heavily.
Leppone wants to stand up but Ryan is controlling him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Julian Ryan dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


An inside leg kick lands from Leppone.

Ryan bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Ryan misses with the ground and pound.
Leppone is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Ryan is controlling him well.
Ryan staying calm.
Leppone wants to get back to his feet but Ryan drags him back down.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Ryan trying to control the position but Leppone is working away.
Leppone pushes Ryan away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Ryan gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Leppone fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Ryan tries to clinch up but Leppone circles away and keeps his distance.
Ryan lands with a shot to the body.
Ryan avoids a punch combination nicely.
Ryan shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Leppone misses with a few strikes there.
A slapping leg kick lands for Leppone.
Leppone misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Leppone pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Leppone avoids the head kick by Ryan.

Ryan decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Leppone wants to get back to his feet.
Ryan is pressing down on Leppone's thigh, looking to free his foot. Leppone is holding on for now.
Leppone tries to kick Ryan off in order to stand up. Ryan Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Ryan in side control, just content to control the action for now.

Ryan tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Ryan has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Leppone is trying to buck Ryan off.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Leppone is not content to let Ryan control the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Leppone fails with the takedown

and Ryan counters with a single leg into guard. Leppone didn't expect that.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Julian Ryan dominated that second round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!



Excellent takedown into side control there by Ryan.
Leppone is trying to buck Ryan off.
Leppone is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Ryan stands up.
Ryan tries to clinch but Leppone moves out of range.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Leppone closes the distance and clinches.
Leppone with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.


It looks like Julian Ryan has been cut.
Leppone connects with a nasty looking knee right to Ryan's face.
Ryan tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Leppone smiles and moves away.
Ryan chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Leppone can pounce on him.
Leppone throws a right and a left that Ryan avoids nicely.

Ryan shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Leppone's guard.
Ryan wants to pass the guard but Leppone is keeping the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ryan looking to sit in guard and control but Leppone gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Leppone landing with the ground and pound.
Ryan is trying to keep Leppone in close.

Ryan is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Leppone thows a big elbow that misses.
Leppone controlling from the top position.
Ryan keeping moving, preventing Leppone from controlling successfully.
Leppone makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Leppone wants to stand but Ryan has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Ryan not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Leppone wants to control from the top but Ryan keeps moving.
Ryan trying to keep a closed guard but Leppone is proving a slippery customer.
Laiska Leppone has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Leppone won't allow Ryan to sweep him here.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Julian Ryan.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Ryan, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
