Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paul Stone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pedro Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Paul Stone!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Pedro Alves!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, James Glass and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stone has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Stone there as he acknowledges the shot.

Stone instigates a clinch.
Alves wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Alves breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Stone looks frusrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Stone fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Alves misses with a takedown

and Stone counters with a single leg into guard. Alves didn't expect that.
Stone is breathing heavily.

Stone drops back looking for a leg! Alves is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Alves manages to kick Stone off! Stone jumps back into Alves's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Stone won't allow Alves to get back to his feet.
Alves is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Alves has his foot on Stone's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Stone works his way back into a safe position though.
Alves not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Stone throwing strikes but missing.

Stone prevents Alves from getting back to his feet.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Stone shoots for a double leg takedown but Alves sprawls well. He's pushed Stone's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paul Stone. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Alves lands a slapping body shot.
Stone slips a straight right by Alves.
Pedro Alves seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Stone misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Stone decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

and Alves counters with a series of strikes. Stone will be more careful next time no doubt.

Alves throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Alves is trying to stand.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Stone looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Stone prevents Alves from standing back up.
Stone takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Stone is working for a kimura but Alves is defending it quite comfortably.
Stone has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Stone is pressing down on Alves's thigh, looking to free his foot. Alves is holding on for now.

Stone stalling.
Alves wants to get back to his feet.
Alves is not content to let Stone control the position.
Stone stops Alves from getting back to his feet.
Stone throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Stone takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Alves connects with a jab.
Alves swats away the attempt to clinch by Stone.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Stone takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Alves will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Stone shoots for a double leg takedown but Alves sprawls well. He's pushed Stone's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Alves shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Stone as he jumps to the side.

Stone feints and as Alves raises his hands in defense, Stone changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Stone prevents Alves from getting back to his feet.
Stone lands a couple of decent looking shots.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Stone passes into half guard.
Stone works his way into side control.
You can see the frustration on Alves's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Stone prevents Alves from escaping the position.
Alves is looking to reverse the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Paul Stone dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Alves shoots and misses

and Stone counters with a nice double leg into side control. Alves won't be happy with that.
Alves wants to get back to his feet but Stone drags him back down.

Stone tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Stone has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Stone working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Alves tries to improve position but can't.

Stone is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Alves has escaped the position, nice work there.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Alves wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Alves is trying to get back to half guard.
Alves wants to get back to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Stone moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Stone grinds an elbow into Alves's temple.
Stone advances nicely into full mount.
Stone lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Alves is squirming around, avoiding Stone's attempts to control the action.
Stone tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Stone has control of Alves's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Alves regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Stone wants to take Alves's back but he can't do it this time.
Alves is in a horrible position here. Stone smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.


Alves is rocked!
Paul Stone overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Alves is bucking up trying to escape but Stone cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Alves is still in real trouble! Can Stone finish him?
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Alves is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Stone has hold of Alves's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Alves manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Alves is squirming around, avoiding Stone's attempts to control the action.
Alves really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Stone. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Stone lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Alves has given up his back here. Will Stone look for the submission or keep pounding away?
Stone doesn't have the hooks in and Alves manages to turn into his guard.
Alves won't allow Stone to sweep him here.
Alves stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Stone swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Stone manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Alves is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Stone tries to control but Alves wriggling away.
Alves wants to try and get back to his feet.

Alves defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Stone.
Alves's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Stone won't let Alves get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Stone is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Alves is surviving well by controlling Stone's body position as best he can.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Alves looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Alves wants to stand up but Stone has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Stone slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Stone bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Alves's guard.

Alves wants to stand up but Stone is controlling him.

Alves wriggles free and stands up.
Stone throws a push kick but Alves slaps the foot to one side.

Stone drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Stone trying to control the position but Alves is working away.
Alves wants to get back to his feet but Stone drags him back down.

Stone has an Americana. Alves didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Stone is delighted and gyrates infront of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Stone hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:05 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Paul Stone!
