PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Steve Irvin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aamin Haidar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Haidar has chosen target=blank>drop the world as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Steve Irvin !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Aamin Haidar!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Summer Carpenter and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Irvin avoids a punch combination nicely.
A punch combination from Haidar misses.
Haidar throws a right and a left that Irvin avoids nicely.
Haidar fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Haidar tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Haidar throws a right and a left that both miss.
Irvin fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Haidar throws a lazy right hand but Irvin sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Haidar throws a right and a left that Irvin avoids nicely.

Irvin bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Haidar gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Haidar is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Haidar is looking to improve his position but Irvin isn't that keen on the idea.

Haidar really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Irvin . If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Irvin has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Haidar tries to buck Irvin off but he can't manage it.
Haidar wants to hold on but Irvin pushes him away.
Haidar should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Irvin looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Irvin has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Haidar's face.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Irvin jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Haidar manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Irvin is breathing heavily.
Irvin tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Haidar throws a shot from downtown. Irvin moves away and avoids it.
Haidar throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Irvin .
Haidar misses with a jab, cross combination.

Haidar misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Irvin drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Irvin lands a decent elbow from side control.
Haidar tries to buck Irvin off but Irvin is having none of it.
Haidar struggling a bit here.

Irvin has hold of Haidar's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Haidar manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Irvin avoids the attempt from Haidar to control.

Irvin has control of Haidar's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Haidar regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Haidar is looking to get to half guard.
Haidar tries to lock up and control but Irvin gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Haidar takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Irvin has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Haidar's face.

Haidar throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Irvin scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Haidar falls off balance throwing a combination
and Irvin counters with a leg kick.
Irvin jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Irvin in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Irvin postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Haidar is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Irvin , into his guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Haidar throws a sloppy strike and Irvin has hooked up an armbar on the loose arm! He's turned and extended fully! Haidar is forced to tap! Great BJJ from Irvin !
