The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Pepper swivels and escapes.

Pepper feints and as Johnson raises his hands in defense, Pepper changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Pepper trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Pepper advances position into side control!
Johnson stops Pepper from passing to mount.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Johnson gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Pepper counters with a takedown into side control.
Pepper will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Johnson wants to control but Pepper postures up.

Pepper is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Johnson is trying to escape and Pepper transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Johnson is forced to tap! Nice work there by Pepper! Very nice indeed!
