PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tony Booth (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Harley Reyes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Reyes has chosen Shut Em Down (Public Enemy) as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Harley Reyes!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Alec Ball and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Booth fails with a takedown attempt.

Reyes closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Booth manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Reyes trying to control but Booth postures up.
Booth wants to pass to mount but Reyes is defending the position.

Booth is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Reyes has managed to free his arm - good work.

Booth is just content to waste time from the top position. Reyes takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Reyes tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Booth swivels and escapes.
Tony Booth is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Horrible takedown by Reyes or perhaps it was just good defense by Booth which made him look bad.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Booth is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Reyes controlling from mount.
Reyes fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Booth is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Reyes controlling the pace for now.
Booth regains half guard.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Reyes in particular looking to stall.
Booth flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Booth tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Reyes has advanced to mount. Uh oh.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Despite being in the dominant position, Harley Reyes just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Booth misses with a takedown attempt - Reyes sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Booth prevents the takedown attempt.
Booth trying to stall but Reyes improves his position.
Reyes has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Booth avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Reyes gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Booth regains guard.

Reyes must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Harley Reyes showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!



Reyes changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Booth looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Booth pushes Reyes away with a front kick.

Harley Reyes has got the better of the ground game so far.

Harley Reyes comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Reyes has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
