Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between BJ Clark (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Patrick Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). BJ Clark has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, BJ Clark!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Patrick Davis!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Ben Zyskovitsi and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Clark moves out of range of the body kick.

Davis closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Davis wants to get back to striking at distance but Clark won't allow it.

Clark tightens his grip and picks Davis up, before dumping him to the ground. Davis manages to land in guard.
Clark throws a big right hand that misses.
Clark tries to free his leg and advance position but Davis is retaining full guard.
Clark throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Davis works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Davis is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Clark is aware though and is defending well.
Clark wants to stand and escape but instead Davis has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Clark trying to control the position.
Clark is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Davis is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Davis wants to control from the top but Clark keeps moving.

Davis wants to stand but Clark has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Clark is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Davis defends well.
Clark keeping moving, preventing Davis from controlling successfully.
Clark wants to get back to his feet but Davis is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Clark tries to clinch up.
BJ Clark seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Davis stuffs the takedown attempt from Clark. Clark gets slowly back to his feet.
Clark thuds his shin into the meat of Davis's side.
Davis leaves Clark with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Clark is breathing heavily.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Clark is defended easily by Davis.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for BJ Clark. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Davis stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Davis wants it to stay on the feet.

Davis drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Clark wants to stand and escape but Davis is having none of it.
Davis controls from within his opponent's guard.
Clark is trying to keep Davis in close.

Davis seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Davis postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Clark lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Davis!
Clark misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Davis tries to reverse the position but Clark maintains control.
Davis tries to lock up and control but Clark gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Clark throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Davis avoids a series of strikes thrown by Clark.
Davis is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Clark swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Davis is now in Clark's guard. A big mistake from Clark there, giving up the dominant position!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Clark is trying to control the position but Davis postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Patrick Davis dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Clark takes a kick to the side of the head.

Davis looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Clark!

Clark tries to lock up and control but Davis gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Davis can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Clark is looking to escape.

Clark tries to hold on but Davis postures up.
Davis won't let Clark get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Clark has given up his back here.
Davis is working the ground and pound. Can Clark escape?

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Clark just trying to survive but Davis is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
Clark turns into Davis and is now in his guard.
Clark pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Davis is keeping the position for now.

Davis is working an open guard so Clark takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Clark shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Davis counters with a one-two to the body.

Clark wants to control but Davis postures up.
Clark regains half guard.

Clark is looking to improve his position.

Davis moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Clark.
Davis happy to just control the position for now.

Davis is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Clark knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Clark is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Davis asserts his dominance and retains side control.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Clark manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Clark is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Davis sees it coming and defends easily.
Davis is looking to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Patrick Davis showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Davis shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Clark as he jumps to the side.
Davis circles away from the clinch attempt

and Davis counters with a takedown into side control.

Davis looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Patrick Davis has got the better of the ground game so far.

Clark tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Davis decides to stand back up. Davis steps back and let's Clark get back to his feet.
Clark tries to score a power double leg takedown but Davis sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Clark somewhat.

Davis gets the takedown into side control.
Clark wants to control but Davis postures up.
Davis throws a strike aimed at the side of Clark's head but Clark avoids it well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Davis wants to control but Clark is keeping him busy.
Clark struggling a bit here.
Clark is looking for a sweep.
Clark can't do much from the bottom here.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Davis circles away from the clinch attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Davis closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Davis takes a knee to the side of the body.
Clark misses with a knee to the head.
Davis goes for a takedown in the clinch but Clark prevents it.
Davis slowing the pace effectively.
Come on Clark - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

Davis can't get the takedown.
BJ Clark has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Patrick Davis.

Davis breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Clark closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Clark lands in his opponent's guard.
Davis is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Davis looking to hit a scissor sweep but Clark is one step ahead there.
Davis wants to stand up but Clark is controlling him.

And that's the end of the fight!
Patrick Davis comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Davis has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
