PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Thomas Arashikage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brad Barnes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Arashikage comes into the arena with Wu Tang Clan - Bring Da Ruckus blaring out of the sound system. Barnes has chosen Advance Australia Fair - Adam Hills as his entrance music. Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Brad Barnes enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Thomas Arashikage!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brad Barnes!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Tiny Johnson and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Arashikage throws a sloppy head kick and Barnes moves out of range easily.

Arashikage drives through and clinches with Barnes against the cage.

Barnes breaks from the clinch.
Barnes avoids the head kick by Arashikage.

Arashikage tries to keep at a distance but Barnes has taken the fight into the clinch.
Barnes tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Barnes lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Arashikage backwards.
Arashikage looking for a takedown.

Barnes breaks from the clinch.

Barnes fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Arashikage sprawls well initially but Barnes persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Arashikage tries to get to full guard but Barnes has control of the leg.
Arashikage is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Barnes jumps into side control!
Arashikage is trying to get back to half guard.
Arashikage can't do much from the bottom here.
Arashikage regains half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Arashikage looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Arashikage flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Arashikage is breathing heavily.
Arashikage tries to roll over but Barnes keeps him under control.
Arashikage is pressing down on Barnes's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Arashikage is looking for a triangle but Barnes pushes his legs off easily.
Barnes sitting in guard here, content to control.
Barnes must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Barnes decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Arashikage throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Barnes throws a push kick but Arashikage slaps the foot to one side.
The fight stays on the outside here - Barnes looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Barnes connects with a nasty looking knee right to Arashikage's face.

Barnes jumps into guard, dragging Arashikage to the mat.
Barnes seems keen to control Arashikage's posture.
Arashikage wants to pass the guard but Barnes is keeping the position.
Arashikage looking to sit in guard and control but Barnes gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Barnes is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Barnes avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Barnes works a leg free and moves into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Arashikage has hold of Barnes's hands but Barnes slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Barnes trying to control the pace.
Barnes wants to get back to his feet.
Arashikage is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Arashikage trying to hold on to Barnes's head to control him but Barnes postures up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Arashikage wants to improve his position but Barnes is controlling well.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Barnes lands a nice leg kick that just misses Arashikage's sensitive parts.
Barnes looks to clinch

and Arashikage decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Barnes's guard.
Arashikage throws a strike but Barnes rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Barnes is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Barnes wants to control from the top but Arashikage keeps moving.

Barnes is posturing up here but Arashikage has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Barnes tries to roll out but it's too tight and Barnes has to tap! Slick submission there by Arashikage!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Thomas Arashikage!
