Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shawn Michaels (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Valdemar RataJylppynen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Michaels comes to the cage accompanied by Sexy Boy. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Valdemar RataJylppynen!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Stewart Dunkirk and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
RataJylppynen throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
RataJylppynen tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Michaels paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Michaels bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Michaels shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. RataJylppynen defends it nicely.

Michaels shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Michaels wants to control from the top but RataJylppynen keeps moving.
Michaels won't allow RataJylppynen to get back to his feet.
Michaels throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as RataJylppynen works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Michaels has gone for a leg lock! RataJylppynen slips out almost immediately though and dives into Michaels's guard.

Michaels looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! RataJylppynen has picked Michaels up and slammed him! Michaels can't keep hold of the triangle and RataJylppynen manages to pass to side control!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Michaels tries to escape but RataJylppynen is in control.
Michaels manages to get back to half guard.
RataJylppynen prevents Michaels from improving his position.
Michaels tries to regain full guard. Instead though, RataJylppynen has advanced to mount. Uh oh.

Michaels pushes RataJylppynen off but RataJylppynen dives into side control.
Michaels tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but RataJylppynen presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Michaels sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
RataJylppynen tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Michaels.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Michaels gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Michaels wants to control from the top but RataJylppynen keeps moving.
Michaels would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Michaels throws a big right hand that misses.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Michaels is looking to stand up but RataJylppynen won't let him.

Michaels drops back, looking for a kneebar! RataJylppynen looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. RataJylppynen looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from RataJylppynen!
Michaels tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Michaels tries to get back to half guard but can't.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

RataJylppynen stands up from mount. Strange move.
Michaels circles away from the clinch attempt
and Michaels counters with a left to the body.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
RataJylppynen falls off balance throwing a combination
and Michaels counters with a thumping low kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

RataJylppynen tries to grapple but his opponent circles

so Michaels counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Michaels drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but RataJylppynen manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Michaels has RataJylppynen in his guard.
Michaels tries to land a sweep but no joy.
RataJylppynen takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Michaels looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Michaels is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Michaels manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. RataJylppynen manages to get himself to full guard.
