PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dirrty Bird (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Z Pryde Simmons (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Simmons is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Grandmas house. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Z Pryde Simmons!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bird feints and as Simmons raises his hands in defense, Bird changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Bird postures up in Simmons's guard and throws a big left but Simmons blocks it.
Simmons keeping full guard, as Bird tries to pass.
Bird stands up over Simmons, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Simmons looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bird is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Simmons utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Bird stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Simmons swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Bird postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Bird stands up over Simmons, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Bird stops Simmons from standing up.
Bird trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bird throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Simmons works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Bird shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Simmons's guard.

Simmons is looking for a triangle but Bird pushes his legs off easily.
Bird missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Bird is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Bird is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Simmons has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Bird is looking to defend but Simmons has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Bird! Simmons pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Bird taps out and this one is all over!
