Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Guillermo Gomez!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Eddie Navarro!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Navarro fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Gomez avoids it really well and circles away.

Gomez looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Gomez is keen to just control but Navarro is a slippery customer.
Navarro keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Navarro looking for submissions off his back.
Gomez is stalling here. Navarro is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Gomez seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Navarro has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Gomez can't do much from the bottom here.

Gomez tries to buck Navarro off but Navarro is having none of it.
Gomez wants to get back to his feet.
Gomez gets back to half guard.

Navarro is looking for a kimura here.
Navarro looks gassed!

Navarro is working for a submission of some sort.
Gomez makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Gomez.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Gomez is on top in guard.
Gomez trying to control but Navarro is working from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gomez postures up and lands a big shot to Navarro's brow.
Gomez lands a couple of digs.
Gomez is working Navarro over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Navarro keeping moving, preventing Gomez from controlling successfully.
Gomez sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Navarro's guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Gomez is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gomez landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Gomez slips a nice elbow through Navarro's hands, connecting with Navarro's forehead.
Gomez tries to pass to full mount but Navarro defends it.
Gomez winds up and cracks Navarro with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Gomez is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Gomez thows a huge punch but Navarro dodges it nicely.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Gomez is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Gomez missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Gomez wants to take a breather but Navarro is having none of it.
Gomez takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Navarro keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Navarro is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Gomez not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Gomez sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Navarro defending well though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Gomez's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Gomez shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Navarro napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Gomez lands an elbow.
Gomez fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Gomez is working Navarro over with some ground and pound from side control.
Navarro is not content to let Gomez control the position.
Gomez scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Navarro to see if he's OK.
Navarro is breathing heavily.
Gomez landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Gomez has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Navarro!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gomez lands a big shot there that rocks Navarro but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.


Navarro is rocked!
Gomez loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Navarro scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Gomez land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Gomez stands and salutes the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:30 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Guillermo Gomez!
