Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Maia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gary Fisher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gary Fisher will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fisher will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Nice shot lands for Fisher.
Maia shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Fisher but Fisher pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Fisher loads up on a big right hand but Maia slips the punch.
Fisher fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Maia manages to avoid it.
Fisher looks to land a right hand but Maia moved out of range.
Maia moves out of range as Fisher strikes.
Fisher throws a looping overhand right but Maia ducks down to avoid it.
Fisher swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Fisher jabs at Maia's body.
Maia shoots in for a takedown but Fisher shows good takedown defense.
Maia ducks under a wild hook from Fisher.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Maia fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Fisher avoids it really well and circles away.

Maia closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Fisher did well to prevent Maia getting side control.
Maia thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Fisher's head.
Maia is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Fisher tries to get to full guard but Maia has control of the leg.
Fisher is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Maia scores with a couple of nice shots.

Maia is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Fisher is surviving well by controlling Maia's body position as best he can.
Fisher is trying to reverse the position but instead Maia has taken his back - oops!
Fisher turns into Maia and is now in his guard.
Maia lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Fisher!
Maia avoids the attempt from Fisher to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Maia looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Fisher stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Fisher ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Maia moves away.
Gary Fisher is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Fisher misses with a straight left.
Maia looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Fisher is fending him off so far but Maia persists. Nope, Fisher circles away and we're back to standing.

Maia closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Maia sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Fisher's guard.

Maia is trying to work for a kimura but Fisher is defending well.
Maia seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Fisher is staying active underneath Maia, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Maia drops back looking for a leg! Fisher is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Fisher manages to kick Maia off! Maia jumps back into Fisher's guard.

Maia is looking to take a break and control but Fisher is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Maia is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Maia uses his free foot to push down on Fisher's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Fisher.

Maia throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Maia goes for an armbar but Fisher turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Fisher.
Daniel Maia overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Maia wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Fisher is looking to stand up but he'll have to free his leg first. Instead, Maia manages to get to full guard.

Maia is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Fisher is aware though and is defending well.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Daniel Maia.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Maia, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
