PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paul McBryant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Polish Warrior (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McBryant comes to the cage accompanied by "London Calling" by The Clash. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Paul McBryant!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Polish Warrior!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, James Ackerman and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McBryant tries to clinch but Warrior is having none of it.
McBryant tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Warrior paws at him with a jab and circles away.
McBryant is looking to clinch.
Warrior will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Warrior misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Warrior fails with a takedown attempt.
Paul McBryant has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Polish Warrior.
McBryant shoots in but no luck this time.

and McBryant counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by McBryant.
Warrior tries to pull guard but McBryant holds him up against the cage and eventually Warrior drops back down to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

McBryant has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Warrior uses from the top position.
McBryant tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Warrior must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
McBryant seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Warrior drops back looking for a leg! McBryant is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and McBryant manages to kick Warrior off! Warrior jumps back into McBryant's guard.
McBryant is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Warrior drops back, looking for a kneebar! McBryant looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. McBryant looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from McBryant!
McBryant wants to lay and pray for a moment but Warrior keeps working.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
McBryant working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
McBryant trying to control the position but Warrior is working away.
Warrior tries to bench press McBryant off him but McBryant keeps the position.
Warrior is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked McBryant off and has taken his back!
Warrior is trying to stick to McBryant's back but McBryant is turning into Warrior. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Warrior's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by McBryant.
Warrior looks gassed!

Warrior had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. McBryant defends it easily.
McBryant not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

McBryant stands and steps away. Warrior gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

McBryant takes the fight into the clinch.
Warrior looking for a takedown.

McBryant decides to pull guard.
McBryant avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
McBryant not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

McBryant is looking for a triangle but Warrior pushes his legs off easily.
McBryant is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
McBryant content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

McBryant looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Warrior gets a takedown into half guard.
Warrior is looking to take a break and control but McBryant is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Warrior is breathing heavily.
Warrior has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Warrior goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now McBryant is on top in guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McBryant not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Warrior is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. McBryant is aware though and is defending well.
McBryant trying to control the position from guard on top but Warrior is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Warrior is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Warrior is looking to get to half guard.
McBryant scores with a couple of good head shots there.

McBryant stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Warrior wants to clinch

and McBryant counters with a nice double leg into side control. Warrior won't be happy with that.
Warrior wants to control but McBryant postures up.
Paul McBryant overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Warrior is trying to get back to half guard.

Warrior is pushing McBryant's head away, looking to escape. McBryant manages to hold on to the position though.

Warrior reaches up around McBryant's neck trying to control. But McBryant takes advantage instantly and he's locked on an arm triangle! Big trouble for Warrior! Oh that looks nasty! A human being's head is not meant to turn that color! Warrior is out! He's gone limp! The ref steps in to break the fighters up and McBryant celebrates the victory with the fans!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:41 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Paul McBryant!
