PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Igor Togiyev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ghazala Hussein (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ghazala Hussein told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Igor Togiyev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ghazala Hussein!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Aleksandr Martynov.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Togiyev gets a clinch.
Hussein tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Togiyev just stands there and leans against the cage.
Hussein tries to pull guard but Togiyev holds him up against the cage and eventually Hussein drops back down to his feet.
Togiyev lands a nice uppercut.
Hussein jumps guard but Togiyev stands there with Hussein around his waist. Hussein gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Igor Togiyev has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ghazala Hussein.
Togiyev misses with a knee to the head.
Hussein fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Togiyev pulls guard effortlessly.

Hussein pushes down on Togiyev's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Hussein is trying to work for a kimura but Togiyev is defending well.

Hussein is looking for a kimura but Togiyev is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Hussein to get the leverage.

Hussein is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Togiyev doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Hussein.
Hussein prevents Togiyev from standing back up.

Hussein works his way into full mount!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Togiyev stops Hussein from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.

Hussein has hold of Togiyev's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Togiyev manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Togiyev knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hussein on the ground.
Hussein looks gassed!
Togiyev wants to control but Hussein is having none of it.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Hussein looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Hussein jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Togiyev is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Togiyev and Hussein has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Hussein tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Togiyev is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Hussein wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Togiyev, who protects the arm well.

Togiyev is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Hussein has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Hussein is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Togiyev is trying to escape and Hussein transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Togiyev is forced to tap! Nice work there by Hussein! Very nice indeed!
