PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Edgar Minar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ludvig Mohr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Minar comes to the cage accompanied by Pijemo ga radi. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Edgar Minar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ludvig Mohr!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Paulsen Ambrosius and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Minar looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Minar will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Mohr up against the cage.
Mohr is looking to break free of the clinch but Minar has double underhooks.
Mohr tries to break free but Minar pushes him back against the cage.
Minar keeps control of Mohr as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Minar landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Mohr throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Minar fails to pull guard.
Mohr digs a right hand underneath Minar's ribcage. Minar let out a lung full of air as it connected.

Minar breaks from the clinch.
Minar shoots in looking for a takedown. Mohr tries to sprawl out of it but Minar keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Mohr manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Minar shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Mohr as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Edgar Minar. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mohr wants to clinch.
Mohr tries to clinch there but Minar circles away.

Mohr clinches up against the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mohr has had enough of the clinch but Minar keeps him there for the moment.
Mohr misses with a punch on the inside.
Minar tries to pull guard but Mohr won't allow it.
Mohr can't break the clinch.
Minar landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Minar tries to pull guard but Mohr holds him up against the cage and eventually Minar drops back down to his feet.

Minar breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Mohr misses with a head kick.
Ludvig Mohr seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mohr fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Mohr moves into the clinch.
Minar fails to pull guard.
Minar tries to pull guard but Mohr won't allow it.
Mohr struggles to land a body shot inside as Minar controls his hands.

Minar successfully pulls guard.

Mohr got a little sloppy there for a moment and Minar has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Mohr has managed to get both his arms back between Minar's legs - danger averted.
Minar controls Mohr momentarily but Mohr frees himself.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Minar manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Mohr manages to get himself to full guard.
Minar trying to control the position from guard on top but Mohr is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Minar passes Mohr's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Mohr really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Minar. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Mohr wants to get back to his feet.
Minar frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Mohr is in a horrible position here. Minar smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Mohr is squirming around, avoiding Minar's attempts to control the action.
Minar with a couple of short strikes.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Minar scores with a couple of good head shots there.

Minar is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Mohr is surviving well by controlling Minar's body position as best he can.
Minar won't let Mohr get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Minar with a couple of short strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Edgar Minar dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Minar shoots in for a takedown but Mohr shows good takedown defense.
Minar shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Mohr sprawls well. Mohr wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Minar gets slowly back to his feet.
Mohr tries to clinch up but Minar circles away and keeps his distance.
Mohr is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Minar keeps the fight on the outside.
Mohr leaves Minar with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Edgar Minar. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A jab from Mohr does it's job there.
Mohr tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Mohr lands with a nice combination. Minar backs away looking to recover.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mohr gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Minar wants to control from the top but Mohr keeps moving.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Minar postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Mohr kicks Minar off and gets to his feet.

Mohr gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Mohr tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Minar's elbow.
Minar can't get the takedown.
Mohr tries to circle away but Minar has him pinned against the cage.

Minar manages to pull guard.
Mohr postures up.

Minar has a closed guard, preventing Mohr from standing up.

Minar has his foot on Mohr's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Mohr works his way back into a safe position though.
Minar lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Mohr!

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Minar throws an elbow but it misses.
Mohr is trying to force a seperation but Minar has the dominant position.

Minar pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Mohr lands a two punch combo.

Mohr rushes Minar and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Minar tries to pull guard but Mohr won't allow it.

Mohr throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.

Mohr gets to his feet - Minar follows without any prompting.
Minar misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Mohr gets caught flat footed, as Minar shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Minar has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Mohr wants to stand up but Minar is controlling him.
Minar might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Minar is looking to work some ground and pound but Mohr has wrist control.

Mohr scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Mohr has closed the distance and engaged Minar in a clinch.
Minar blocks an elbow strike.

Minar blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Minar jumps guard.

Minar has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Mohr off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Minar shoots for a double leg takedown but Mohr sprawls well. He's pushed Minar's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Minar avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Edgar Minar is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Minar closes the distance and clinches up with Mohr, looking for a takedown. Minar pushes Mohr against the cage but Mohr circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Ludvig Mohr has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Mohr throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

and Minar counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Minar thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Minar throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

And that's the end of the fight!
Edgar Minar showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Minar, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
