PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Liste Pik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Olivier Bouleau (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bouleau has chosen kevin rudolf - let it rock as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Olivier Bouleau has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Liste Pik!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Olivier Bouleau!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Donatello Bradman and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pik throws a push kick but Bouleau slaps the foot to one side.
Some bone on bone action there as Bouleau checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Bouleau shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Pik's guard.

Bouleau drops back, looking for a kneebar! Pik looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Pik looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Pik!

Bouleau tries to buck Pik off but Pik is having none of it.
The strikes coming from Pik are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Pik tries for a kimura but Bouleau is defending well.
Pik working the ground and pound but Bouleau is defending the strikes.
Bouleau is looking for a sweep.
Bouleau is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Pik throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Pik shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Bouleau counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Pik's guard now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pik is breathing heavily.
Bouleau wants to control from the top but Pik keeps moving.

Bouleau drops back looking for a leg! Pik is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Pik manages to kick Bouleau off! Bouleau jumps back into Pik's guard.
Pik lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Bouleau!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Bouleau gets back to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bouleau is trying to control but can't.
Pik throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Pik tries to pass to full mount but Bouleau defends it.
Pik sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Bouleau defending well though.
Pik is thwarting Bouleau's attempts to control the position.

Pik stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Bouleau to get to his feet.

Bouleau is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Pik is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Pik has escaped and now he's on top!
Pik connects with a couple of short punches.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Bouleau is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Pik sees it coming and defends easily.

Bouleau is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Pik has managed to free his arm - good work.
Pik regains full guard. Nicely done.
Pik looking to hit a scissor sweep but Bouleau is one step ahead there.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Bouleau drops back looking for a leg! Pik is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Pik manages to kick Bouleau off! Bouleau jumps back into Pik's guard.

Pik is looking to stand back up but Bouleau counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Pik.

Bouleau is looking for a kimura but Pik is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Bouleau to get the leverage.
Pik wants to get back to his feet.
Bouleau controlling the pace.
Olivier Bouleau has got the better of the ground game so far.

Bouleau seems to be working for a kimura but Pik defends the submission attempt.
Bouleau is trying to control the action in half guard but Pik is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Pik works his way to full guard. Good work.

Pik has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Bouleau drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Bouleau jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Pik wants to stand but Bouleau is controlling the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Bouleau lands a body shot.
Bouleau connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Bouleau is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Bouleau might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Pik kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Pik is looking to stand up but Bouleau isn't so interested in that idea.

Pik working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Bouleau doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Bouleau manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Olivier Bouleau showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Bouleau looks to land a combination but Pik avoids it well.
Pik has his takedown stuffed
and Bouleau counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Bouleau thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Pik wants to sweep here but Bouleau controlling him for the moment.

Bouleau postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Pik is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Bouleau, into his guard.

Pik lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Pikis looking to pass into half guard but Bouleau pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Bouleau is in guard.
Olivier Bouleau is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Liste Pik has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Despite being in the dominant position, Olivier Bouleau just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Pik lands with a shot to the body.

And that's the end of the fight!
Liste Pik showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Bouleau has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
