PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Evans (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mr Spock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Spock looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Evans!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee warns Evans that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Evans is squirming around, avoiding Spock's attempts to control the action.
Evans wants to control but Spock is having none of it.

Spock goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Evans is on top in guard.

Spock bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Spock is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Evans has escaped the position, nice work there.

Spock is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Evans's shoulder. That is not cool.

Evans sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Evans looks like he's trying to stand up.
Evans is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Spock is working for a kimura but Evans is defending it quite comfortably.
Spock looks gassed!
Evans moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Evans is looking for a triangle but Spock pushes his legs off easily.

Spock drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Evans manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Spock has Evans in his guard.

Evans got a little sloppy there for a moment and Spock has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Evans has managed to get both his arms back between Spock's legs - danger averted.
Evans would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Evans works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Spock is trying to stand back up but Evans is controlling him

Evans trying to control the action but Spock is working from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Evans tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

and Spock counters with a takedown into side control.
Evans can't do much from the bottom here.
Spock wants to control but Evans is keeping him busy.

Spock swings around for an armbar but Evans sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Spock's guard.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Spock is trying hard to land a takedown here. Evans sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Spock has gone for a leg lock! Evans slips out almost immediately though and dives into Spock's guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Mr Spock showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Evans's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Spock shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Spock lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Evans hang on?

Spock jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Evans is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Evans and Spock has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

I would just about give that final round to Mr Spock.
