PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sid Singh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Riformato (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Singh's entrance music is Amazing- Kanye West. A fine choice. Riformato comes into a darkened arena with his song building. psycho kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Joe Riformato will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Sid Singh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Joe Riformato!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Richard Clark and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Riformato fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Joe Riformato seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Singh doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Riformato counters by clinching up.

Riformato's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Riformato is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Riformato shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Riformato tries to control but Singh wriggling away.
Singh is working to get back to half guard.
Riformato tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Riformato stands up from mount. Strange move.
Singh tries for a takedown but Riformato circles away easily

and Riformato counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Riformato takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Riformato has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Riformato works his way into side control.

Riformato stands up.

Singh gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Riformato to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Riformato looks gassed!

Singh is looking for a triangle but Riformato pushes his legs off easily.

Riformato thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Singh keeping full guard, as Riformato tries to pass.

Singh has his feet on Riformato's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Riformato gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Singh counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Singh might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Singh thows a big elbow that misses.

Riformato looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Singh drops back looking for a leg! Riformato is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Riformato manages to kick Singh off! Singh jumps back into Riformato's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Riformato thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Riformato is looking for a triangle but Singh pushes his legs off easily.

Riformato had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Singh defends it easily.

Singh is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Riformato is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Riformato has escaped and now he's on top!

Riformato controlling from the top position.
Riformato trying to control but Singh is working from the bottom.

Singh kicks Riformato off and gets to his feet.

Riformato bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Riformato wants to lay and pray for a moment but Singh keeps working.

Riformato is trying to get an arm triangle but Singh is defending well.
Singh is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Riformato asserts his dominance and retains side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Riformato is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Singh will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Riformato thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Singh tries to escape but Riformato is in control.
Riformato scores with a couple of short elbows.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Riformato wants to lay and pray for a moment but Singh keeps working.
Singh manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Singh wants to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joe Riformato dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Riformato doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Singh counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Riformato.

Singh bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Singh works to advance to full mount. Riformato defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Singh is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Riformato to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Riformato shrugs it off.

Singh moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Riformato has worked his arm free - good work by Riformato!
Riformato gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Singh seems to be looking for submissions.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Riformato wants to get back to his feet.
Riformato is looking to improve his position.
Riformato makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Riformato.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Singh stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Riformato swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Riformato is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Singh has his hands clasped together but Riformato extends an breaks Singh's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Riformato.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:03 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Joe Riformato!
