Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, John Kavanagh and Columbo Gatti.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Whelan throws a series of punches but Murder avoids them all with ease.
Murder moves into the clinch.
Murder tries for a takedown but Whelan manages to get underhooks.
Murder pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Murder looks to land a combination. Whelan sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
It looks like Phelan Whelan has been cut.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Murder.
Murder misses with a head kick.
Murder tries to close the distance and clinch but Whelan swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Whelan gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Whelan leaves Murder with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

and Murder counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Whelan avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Whelan working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Murder doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Murder manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Whelan looks gassed!
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Whelan avoids the body shot from Murder.
Murder doesn't manage to clinch there - Whelan circles away.
Murder throws a combination. Whelan tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Murder, right into the meat.
A left and a right from Murder both land. Nice combination.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Murder throws a right hand that Whelan ducks under and follows up with a left that Whelan also avoids with ease.
Good leg kick by Murder there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Murder lands with an uppercut that bounces Whelan off the cage and back into rage.
Murder shoots in and bounces Whelan off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Murder seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Murder wants to control from the top but Whelan keeps moving.

Whelan is in trouble now - Murder has advanced to mount!
Murder is landing with some decent strikes but Whelan is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

The referee warns Whelan that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Phelan Whelan's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
