Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between jimmy petersen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Ellis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, jimmy petersen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jason Ellis!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Gwen Towbar and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
petersen tries for a takedown but Ellis sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
A punch combination from Ellis misses.

petersen closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - petersen lands in his opponent's guard.
Ellis is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
petersen might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Ellis wants to sweep but no luck.
Ellis really doesn't want to stay on the ground with petersen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Ellis closes the distance and clinches.
Ellis goes for a takedown attempt but petersen pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Nice sprawl there from Ellis as petersen shoots in.

petersen throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ellis's waist but Ellis gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing petersen off to one side.

Ellis closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
petersen is not content to let Ellis control the position.

Ellis looks up at the clock and then as petersen takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Ellis smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

petersen wants to control but Ellis postures up.

Ellis scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at petersen to see if he's OK.
Ellis is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

You can see the frustration on petersen's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
petersen throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Ellis throws a leg kick that misses.
Ellis works over petersen's head and body with a nice combination.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Ellis.

petersen could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Ellis seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Jason Ellis showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! petersen's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Ellis looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks petersen with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now petersen is on top in guard.
Ellis wants to sweep but no luck.
petersen slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Ellis has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Let's hope that Ellis has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Well Ellis has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
