Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dean Marsh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mark Rua is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dean Marsh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mark Rua!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Alyssa Summers and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rua fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Marsh, pushing him back against the cage.
Rua avoiding damage.
Rua prevents a takedown attempt there.
Rua throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Rua lands a knee to the head.


It looks like Dean Marsh has been cut.
Rua lands an elbow that stopped Marsh in his tracks for a moment.
Rua prevents a takedown attempt there.
Marsh can't find room to land a body shot as Rua controls the action.
Knees to the body from Rua.
Rua using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.
Rua looking to slow down the pace here.
Rua creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Marsh's defenses.
Rua wants to stall.
Rua gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Marsh.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dean Marsh. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Rua is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Marsh is defending well for now.
Rua lands a good knee to the midsection. Marsh won't want to take too many of those.
A bit of stalling here from Rua.
Rua lands an elbow inside.
Marsh is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Marsh is breathing heavily.
Rua is pushing Marsh up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Marsh works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Rua is trying to control the position but Marsh postures up.
Marsh postures up in Rua's guard and throws a big left but Rua blocks it.
Marsh wants to control from the top but Rua keeps moving.
Rua wants to get back to his feet but Marsh is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Marsh throws and elbow that misses. Rua uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Marsh's guard. Nice move by Rua!
Rua trying to control the position from guard on top but Marsh is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Rua controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Rua loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Rua tries to bum rush Marsh with a series of wild strikes but Marsh uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Rua lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Rua lands a high kick to the side of Marsh's head that stuns him and send him tumbling down to the canvas! Rua dives into guard, looking to finish.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Marsh keeping full guard, as Rua tries to pass.
Rua throwing strikes from guard but Marsh blocks nicely.
Marsh on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Marsh tries to get out of the position.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Rua accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Rua stays in close to Marsh's body and controls the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Rua throws and elbow that misses. Marsh uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Rua's guard. Nice move by Marsh!
Rua is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Rua is trying to control. Marsh wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mark Rua dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Dean Marsh's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



A big head kick from Rua and Marsh is sent sprawling to the canvas!
Rua wants to pass the guard but Marsh is keeping the position.
Rua must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Rua passes easily into side control. Nice work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Marsh on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Rua wants to control but Marsh is keeping him busy.
Rua in side control, throwing shots but Marsh defends.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Marsh is not content to let Rua control the position.
Rua tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Rua throwing strikes but Marsh manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
You can see the frustration on Rua's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Marsh wants to control but Rua is keeping him busy.

Rua is looking to regain half guard here but Marsh keeps moving and retains side control.
Marsh tries to move to mount but Rua blocks the move with his legs.
Rua trying to remain calm as Marsh controls from the top position.

Marsh controlling from side mount.
Marsh trying to control the action but Rua is working from the bottom.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Rua tries to clinch but Marsh is having none of it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Rua drops Marsh with a left right combo! Rua follows him down to the ground into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Marsh wants to get back to his feet but Rua drags him back down.

Rua prevents Marsh from escaping the position.
A lull in the action here as Rua stalls from top position.
Rua wants to control but Marsh is keeping him busy.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Rua is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Marsh's shoulder. That is not cool.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mark Rua showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Rua slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Rua lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Marsh gets cracked there but stands up to it.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Rua throws a quick head kick that knocks Marsh silly! This fight is all over! What a finish! Rua is up on the cage, taking in the applause from the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:24 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Mark Rua!
