Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Simon Koob (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Giel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Koob comes to the cage accompanied by The Offspring- Stuff is messed up. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Paul Giel!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Sergei Dronov and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Koob shoots in looking for a takedown. Giel tries to sprawl out of it but Koob keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Giel manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Giel misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Simon Koob. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Horrible takedown by Koob or perhaps it was just good defense by Giel which made him look bad.
Koob shoots in looking for a takedown. Giel tries to sprawl out of it but Koob keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Giel manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Koob closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Giel to the mat! Giel manages to get full guard.

Giel wants to get back to his feet but Koob is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Koob shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Giel as he avoids it easily.
Koob closes the distance and clinches up with Giel, looking for a takedown. Koob pushes Giel against the cage but Giel circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Simon Koob seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Giel's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Giel duly obliges.


It looks like Simon Koob has been cut.
Giel lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Giel moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
A lazy left from Giel finds it's target.
Koob has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Koob avoids a punch combination nicely.

Giel closes the distance and lands a one-two.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Giel moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Giel's corner calls for a 1-2. Giel obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Giel lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Koob at a distance.
Giel throws a one two combo.
Paul Giel is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A nice combination there by Giel.
Giel lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Koob backs up against the cage.
The fighters circle momentarily. Giel darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Giel lands a right hook to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Giel works over Koob's head and body with a nice combination.
Giel lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Giel is working the combinations to good effect here.
Giel scores with a one two! Koob had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

A left and a right from Giel both land. Nice combination.
Oh Koob is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Giel throws a right hand that Koob ducks under and follows up with a left that Koob also avoids with ease.
Koob seems to have got his legs back now.
Giel rushes Koob with punches - Koob moves straight backwards instead of circling and gets clipped by the second strike... and the third... and the fourth! Oh, Koob goes down! Giel follows up with more strikes and the ref steps in to end the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:16 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Paul Giel!
