PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Lyle Beerbong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steven Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lee has chosen Wu-Tang Clan - Bring Da Ruckus as his entrance music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lyle Beerbong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Seu Braga and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beerbong bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Beerbong pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Beerbong throws a right and a left that Lee avoids nicely.
Beerbong swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Beerbong throws out a loose jab but Lee uses good head movement to avoid it.
No joy there for Beerbong, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Lee uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Beerbong.
Lee needs to keep his hands up - Beerbong had a free shot at his head there.

Lee uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Beerbong.
Lee thuds a left hand into Beerbong's body.
Lee fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Beerbong manages to avoid it.
Beerbong looks to land a left hand but Lee moved out of range nicely.

Lee moves away from the strike by Beerbong.
Lee bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Lee shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Beerbong's guard.

Lee tries to free his leg and advance position but Beerbong is retaining full guard.

Lee drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Beerbong manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Lee has Beerbong in his guard.

Lee is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Lee has his foot on Beerbong's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Beerbong works his way back into a safe position though.

Lee had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Beerbong defends it easily.
Beerbong has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Lee working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Beerbong doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Beerbong manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Beerbong has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Lee is proving hard to escape from.
Beerbong won't allow Lee to sweep him here.
Lee bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Beerbong's guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Beerbong is looking to stand up but Lee isn't so interested in that idea.
Lee wants to pass the guard but Beerbong is keeping the position.

Lee is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Lee is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Beerbong sees it coming and defends easily.

That was a close round but I would say that Lyle Beerbong will probably get the nod.

Lee shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Lee showed some decent athleticism there.

Lee has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Beerbong defend it? Lee steps over the head and cranks it - Beerbong is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Lee!
