PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dave Stackhouse (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chrisi Kay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stackhouse comes into the arena with Every Time I Die - Roman Holiday blaring out of the sound system. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dave Stackhouse!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Chrisi Kay!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kay closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Stackhouse did well to prevent Kay getting side control.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Stackhouse wants to improve his position but Kay is controlling well.
Kay lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Stackhouse gets full guard.

Stackhouse is looking for a triangle but Kay pushes his legs off easily.
Kay with a flurry of punches that miss.
Kay stopping the sweep attempt from Stackhouse.
Kay has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Kay wants to control from the top but Stackhouse keeps moving.
Kay throws a strike but Stackhouse rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Stackhouse slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Stackhouse postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Stackhouse working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Kay's head.

Kay is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kay is on top in guard.
Stackhouse tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Stackhouse trying to control the position.
Kay throws and elbow that misses. Stackhouse uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Kay's guard. Nice move by Stackhouse!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Stackhouse postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Stackhouse chips away with some ground and pound.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Kay is looking for a triangle but Stackhouse pushes his legs off easily.
Stackhouse trying to control but Kay is working from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Stackhouse won't allow Kay to get back to his feet.
Kay not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Stackhouse trying to control but Kay is working from the bottom.
Stackhouse looking to sit in guard and control but Kay gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Stackhouse working a defensive guard but Kay passes into half guard.

Stackhouse is trying to control but can't.
Kay not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Kay takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Stackhouse throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.


It looks like Chrisi Kay has been cut.
Dave Stackhouse seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Stackhouse throws a body punch but Kay moves out of range.
Stackhouse's corner calls for a 1-2. Stackhouse obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Stackhouse misses with a looping left.
Stackhouse scores with a crisp jab that stopped Kay in his tracks.
Stackhouse misses with a body shot.
Stackhouse misses with a straight right.
Kay shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Stackhouse as he avoids it easily.
No luck for Kay with that takedown attempt.
Stackhouse lands with an uppercut that bounces Kay off the cage and back into rage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kay on the wrong end of a nice jab.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Stackhouse scores with a shot to the body.
Stackhouse cracks Kay with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Stackhouse connects with a good right hand that stumbles Kay. Kay circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Stackhouse works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Kay steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Stackhouse.
Stackhouse connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

Oooh a lovely combination from Stackhouse sends Kay down but not out. Stackhouse dives into side control looking to finish.

Kay is still in real trouble! Can Stackhouse finish him?
Stackhouse trying to control the action but Kay is working from the bottom.
Kay seems to have recovered his senses.
Stackhouse working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kay is trying to control Stackhouse's posture but Stackhouse avoids it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Stackhouse lands a nice shot that snaps Kay's head back.
Stackhouse dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Kay avoids the body shot from Stackhouse.
Kay takes a jab right on the kisser.


That has opened up Chrisi Kay's cut even more.
Kay on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Stackhouse takes a swing at Kay's ribcage but misses.
Kay keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Stackhouse.
Stackhouse stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Stackhouse wants it to stay on the feet.
Stackhouse moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Stackhouse drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Stackhouse connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Stackhouse just misses with a punch to the body.
Stackhouse stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Stackhouse wants it to stay on the feet.
Kay uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Stackhouse.

Stackhouse cracks a nice hook into Kay's ribs.
Chrisi Kay is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Stackhouse waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Kay.
Stackhouse bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Dave Stackhouse is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Stackhouse throws a nice looking combination but Kay bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Stackhouse looks to throw the jab but Kay is out of range.
Stackhouse avoids the body shot from Kay.
Kay dives in and grabs Stackhouse's left leg, looking for a takedown. Stackhouse pushes down on Kay's head and hops out.
Dave Stackhouse has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chrisi Kay.
Stackhouse throws a nice looking combination but Kay bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Kay has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Stackhouse finds it's way round the side to connect with Kay's head.
Kay fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Kay looks for a takedown but Stackhouse sprawls well.
Kay is breathing heavily.
Kay takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Kay has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Stackhouse throws a hook but Kay avoids it easily.
Stackhouse with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Some wild striking there from Stackhouse.
Stackhouse lands with a shot to the body.
Stackhouse lands a jab-cross combination.


The cut above Chrisi Kay's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Stackhouse lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Kay doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Stackhouse misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Stackhouse scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Kay is trying hard to land a takedown here. Stackhouse sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Kay walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.


Chrisi Kay's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

Stackhouse takes a swing at Kay's ribcage but misses.
Stackhouse fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Kay takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Stackhouse connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Chrisi Kay's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:26 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Dave Stackhouse!
