PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Zeke Rage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Barney Stinson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Stinson's choice of entrance music: On the Eve of War - Jedi Mind Tricks. Barney Stinson has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Zeke Rage's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Zeke Rage!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Barney Stinson!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Steve Smith and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stinson displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Rage throws out the jab.
Rage slaps away a takedown attempt from Stinson, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Horrible takedown by Stinson or perhaps it was just good defense by Rage which made him look bad.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Stinson dives in and grabs Rage's left leg, looking for a takedown. Rage pushes down on Stinson's head and hops out.
Zeke Rage has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Barney Stinson.

Stinson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Rage but Rage pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Rage throws the left hand but Stinson avoids the punch easily.
Zeke Rage is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Rage misses with a hook. Stinson ducked under it nicely.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Rage waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Stinson.

Stinson gets the takedown into side control.

Stinson working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Rage is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Stinson asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Rage on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Rage tries to get out of the position.

Stinson is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Rage has escaped the position, nice work there.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Rage prevents Stinson from improving position.

Stinson tries for a kimura but Rage is defending well.
Rage wants to get back to his feet but Stinson is dominant here and he's now got Rage's back!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Rage is trying to get back to his feet. He's worked up on to his knees and now he's on his feet with his head on the canvas, trying to shake Stinson off. It looks like it's working - Stinson slides off, much to his dismay, and we're back to standing! Rage displaying calm under pressure there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Rage's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Stinson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Rage thows a left - swing and a miss!

Rage misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Stinson.

Stinson tries for a takedown but Rage sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Rage fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Stinson on the side of the head.
Stinson slips a straight right by Rage.
Rage really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Rage stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Rage wants it to stay on the feet.
Zeke Rage has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Barney Stinson.
Rage stuffs the takedown attempt from Stinson. Stinson gets slowly back to his feet.

Stinson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rage's waist but Rage gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Stinson off to one side.
Stinson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Rage sprawls well. Rage wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Stinson gets slowly back to his feet.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Stinson drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Stinson looking to sit in guard and control but Rage gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Stinson keeping moving, preventing Rage from controlling successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Rage displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Stinson.

Stinson pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Rage is keeping the position for now.
Stinson wants to control from the top but Rage keeps moving.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Rage is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Stinson sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Rage's guard.
Rage pushes Stinson off looking to stand but Stinson dives back in and keeps control.
Rage wants to control but Stinson is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Stinson moves nicely into side control.
Stinson remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Stinson wants to control but Rage is keeping him busy.
Rage can't do much from the bottom here.

Stinson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Rage knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Stinson is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Rage has escaped the position, nice work there.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Stinson is looking to take a break and control but Rage is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Rage knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Stinson on the ground.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Stinson is trying to get an arm triangle but Rage is defending well.
Rage pushes Stinson away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Stinson gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

And that's the end of the fight!
Barney Stinson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Stinson has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
