PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ro Nin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shayne Foreman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Foreman comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Hella Ones kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ro Nin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Shayne Foreman!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Illya Tyunina and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Foreman tries to clinch but Nin is having none of it.
Nin takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Ro Nin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nin shoots in looking for a takedown. Foreman tries to sprawl out of it but Nin keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Foreman manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Foreman is looking to clinch.
Foreman tries to clinch but Nin is having none of it.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Nin.
Nice sprawl there from Foreman as Nin shoots in.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ro Nin. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nin shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Foreman pinned against the cage. Foreman gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Foreman fails with an attempt to clinch.

Nin shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Foreman wants to stand and escape but Nin is having none of it.
Nin is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Nin forces his way into half guard.
Nin prevents Foreman from standing back up.
Foreman really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Nin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Foreman manages to escape and get back to his feet!

Nin closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Nin lands in his opponent's guard.

Foreman can't keep his opponent in guard - Nin advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Nin is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Foreman is staying active underneath Nin, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Nin content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Nin seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Foreman does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Nin is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Foreman has managed to free his arm - good work.
Nin is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Foreman!

Foreman is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Nin trying to control but Foreman is having none of it.
Nin takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Ro Nin just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Nin swats away the attempt to clinch by Foreman.
Foreman tries to clinch up but Nin circles away and keeps his distance.
Nin shoots in but no luck this time.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Nin tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Foreman swivels and escapes.
Nin fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Nin has a takedown stuffed.
Nin shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Foreman defends it nicely.
Nin is breathing heavily.

Foreman closes the distance and clinches.

Foreman has picked Nin up - he's going for a ride! Foreman dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Nin gets full guard.
Nin looking to hit a scissor sweep but Foreman is one step ahead there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Ro Nin will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Foreman tries to close the distance and clinch up but Nin swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Nin drives through with a takedown into guard.

Nin passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Foreman is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Nin asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Foreman is not content to let Nin control the position.
Nin just content to control the position.

Nin is trying to get an arm triangle but Foreman is defending well.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Foreman is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Nin asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Foreman is trying to buck Nin off.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Nin shoots in and drives through. Foreman sprawls well.
Nin fails with the takedown.

Nin shoots for a double leg takedown but Foreman sprawls well. He's pushed Nin's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Nin changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Foreman looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Foreman is pushing Nin's head away, looking to escape. Nin manages to hold on to the position though.
Nin has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Foreman!
Nin tries to control but Foreman wriggling away.

Nin with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Foreman is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Foreman is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Nin working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Foreman turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Nin off and cradles Foreman's limp body as Nin celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Ro Nin!
