PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nate Richardson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and George Pierre (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Richardson comes to the cage accompanied by This Calling by All That Remains. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nate Richardson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, George Pierre!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Alan Glass and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Richardson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Pierre is looking to chop away at Richardson's legs.

Pierre misses with a takedown attempt - Richardson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Pierre shoots in but Richardson avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Richardson throws a right hand that Pierre ducks under and follows up with a left that Pierre also avoids with ease.
Richardson takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Pierre lands with an uppercut that bounces Richardson off the cage and back into rage.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Pierre uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Richardson has time to react.
Oh Richardson is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Richardson looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
Pierre closes the distance and clinches up with Richardson, looking for a takedown. Pierre pushes Richardson against the cage but Richardson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Pierre shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Richardson defends it nicely.
Pierre scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Pierre shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Richardson's guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
I looks like Pierre might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Pierre wants to advance to full mount but Richardson doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
Richardson can't keep his opponent in guard - Pierre advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Pierre seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Pierre throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Richardson because Pierre loaded up on that one.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

George Pierre showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!

Pierre lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Despite being in the dominant position, George Pierre just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

George Pierre comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Pierre has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
