PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Reece Edward Duenas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Viktor Kabal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Duenas comes into the arena with Sandman blaring out of the sound system. Viktor Kabal has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Reece Edward Duenas's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Reece Edward Duenas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Viktor Kabal!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Robert Douchet and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kabal throws a jab when Duenas was well out of range.
Kabal dips to his left and cracks Duenas with an uppercut!

Duenas drives through with a takedown into guard.

Duenas thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Duenas drops back looking for a leg! Kabal is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Kabal manages to kick Duenas off! Duenas jumps back into Kabal's guard.
Duenas stays in close to Kabal's body and controls the position.

Duenas is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Kabal has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Duenas can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Duenas working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Duenas drops back looking for a leg! Kabal is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Kabal manages to kick Duenas off! Duenas jumps back into Kabal's guard.

Duenas is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
A jab from Kabal misses.
Kabal jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Kabal misses with a hook. Duenas ducked under it nicely.
Kabal connects with a looping right hand.
Nice uppercut there from Kabal.
A slow jab from Kabal misses its intended target.
Kabal throws out a loose jab but Duenas uses good head movement to avoid it.
Duenas shoots in for a takedown but Kabal shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Duenas moves out of range as Kabal strikes.

Duenas feints and as Kabal raises his hands in defense, Duenas changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Kabal trying to keep a closed guard but Duenas is proving a slippery customer.

Duenas postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Kabal is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Duenas, into his guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Duenas is trying to control the position but Kabal postures up.
Duenas is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Duenas trying to keep a closed guard but Kabal is proving a slippery customer.
Duenas wants to sweep but no luck.
Kabal wants to stand but Duenas is controlling his posture from full guard.
Kabal pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Duenas is keeping the position for now.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Duenas pulls Kabal in close to his closed guard and prevents Kabal from doing any damage or advancing position.
Duenas looking for a sweep. Not yet Duenas, not yet.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Duenas feints and as Kabal raises his hands in defense, Duenas changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Kabal wants to sweep here but Duenas controlling him for the moment.
Kabal avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Duenas thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Duenas stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kabal swivels though and keeps the full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Viktor Kabal dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Duenas takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
A decent looking cross lands there for Kabal.

Duenas is rocked!
Duenas switches off momentarily and Kabal cracks him with a monster right hand! Duenas topples backwards and makes a semi conscious attempt to cover up, as Kabal dives in to land one more shot, before the referee has time to call the fight. What a finish by Kabal!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:19 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Viktor Kabal!
