PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Raul Hughes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gong Wei (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wei avoids a punch combination nicely.
Hughes lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Hughes.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Wei is defended easily by Hughes.
Wei tries to clinch but Hughes moves out of range.
Wei looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Hughes is pushing Wei's head away, looking to escape. Wei manages to hold on to the position though.

Hughes throws a nice looking combination but Wei bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Wei shoots for a takedown but Hughes saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Wei tries to close the distance and clinch but Hughes swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
The fight stays on the outside here - Wei looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Wei throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Horrible takedown by Wei or perhaps it was just good defense by Hughes which made him look bad.
Hughes lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Wei circles away quickly and effectively.

That was a close second round but I would say that Raul Hughes will probably get the nod.

That's time! Hughes's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Hughes stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hughes wants it to stay on the feet.

Wei changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hughes looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Hughes avoids a series of strikes thrown by Wei.
Hughes holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Wei tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Gong Wei comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Wei has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
