PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bruce Wayne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jiddu Krishnamurthy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Krishnamurthy is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by "Kashmir" - Led Zeppelin. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Bruce Wayne!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jiddu Krishnamurthy!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Richard Clark and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Krishnamurthy shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Wayne napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Krishnamurthy decides to stand back up.
Krishnamurthy misses with a jab, cross combination.
Nice sprawl there from Wayne as Krishnamurthy shoots in.
Krishnamurthy shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Wayne defends it nicely.
Krishnamurthy misses with a double jab.
Krishnamurthy misses with a series of wild punches.

Wayne closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Wayne looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Wayne wants to lay and pray for a moment but Krishnamurthy keeps working.
Wayne in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Wayne stands up and beckons Krishnamurthy to his feet.
Wayne avoids a punch combination nicely.
Nice defenses there by Wayne.
Krishnamurthy throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Wayne.
Krishnamurthy throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Wayne fails to land the takedown.
Jiddu Krishnamurthy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wayne will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Krishnamurthy tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Wayne paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Wayne changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Krishnamurthy tries to avoid it but Wayne manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Krishnamurthy to the ground. Krishnamurthy escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bruce Wayne. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Krishnamurthy shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Wayne counters with a nice double leg into side control. Krishnamurthy won't be happy with that.
Krishnamurthy is trying to buck Wayne off.

Wayne decides to stand up, so the ref orders Krishnamurthy to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Wayne is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Krishnamurthy.
Wayne circles away from the clinch attempt
and Wayne cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
No luck for Wayne with that takedown attempt.
Krishnamurthy fails with the takedown

and Wayne counters with a shoot takedown. Krishnamurthy fights it but they end up in guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Wayne stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Krishnamurthy swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bruce Wayne dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Krishnamurthy stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Krishnamurthy wants it to stay on the feet.
Krishnamurthy fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Krishnamurthy gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Wayne decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Krishnamurthy's guard.
Wayne prevents Krishnamurthy from getting back to his feet.

Krishnamurthy has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Wayne off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Krishnamurthy is looking to land body kicks.
Krishnamurthy tries to bum rush Wayne with a series of wild strikes but Wayne uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Krishnamurthy throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Wayne counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Krishnamurthy!

Wayne has hold of Krishnamurthy's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Krishnamurthy manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Krishnamurthy really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Wayne. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Krishnamurthy is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Wayne misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Wayne misses with a head shot.
Wayne throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Krishnamurthy is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

Wayne landing shots from mount.

Wayne working for a guillotine from mount but Krishnamurthy is in no mood to give up.
Poor strikes thrown by Wayne there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Krishnamurthy is trying to stand up.
Krishnamurthy in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bruce Wayne dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Krishnamurthy will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Wayne tries to stand but Krishnamurthy is controlling from the bottom.

and Wayne counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Wayne.

Wayne gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Krishnamurthy closes the distance but Wayne moves to the side

and Wayne counters with a nice double leg into side control. Krishnamurthy won't be happy with that.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Krishnamurthy tries to escape but Wayne is in control.

Bruce Wayne overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Wayne is trying to get an arm triangle but Krishnamurthy is defending well.
Krishnamurthy wants to get back to his feet but Wayne is dominant here and he's now got Krishnamurthy's back!
Wayne somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Wayne, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
