PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Quinton Adolfson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jorge Cordes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Adolfson comes into the arena with homie hymne blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Quinton Adolfson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jorge Cordes!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Summer Carpenter and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cordes throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Adolfson was covering up waiting for the punch and Cordes finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cordes postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Cordes wants to stand but Adolfson has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Adolfson has his foot on Cordes's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Cordes works his way back into a safe position though.

and Cordes decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Adolfson's guard.

Cordes connects with a couple of short punches.
Cordes is pushing down on Adolfson's leg trying to pass to half guard. Adolfson is fighting to maintain full guard but Cordes has managed to sneak the leg through.
Cordes working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Adolfson wants a takedown but no success here.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Cordes creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Adolfson drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Cordes manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Adolfson has Cordes in his guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Cordes will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Cordes shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Adolfson really wants to buck Cordes off and get back to his feet.

Cordes fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Oooooh, big shot lands for Cordes! Adolfson is hurt baaadly! Cordes is firing away with more strikes - Adolfson is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!
